A very burnt Chuffster is back from his sunny travels now. I see that my two compatriots have left mini twins for supposedly greater things.........
One goes the 400 route, the other, a 700 route.
Still not sure what I shall be doing, my work in bonny Scotland has been put back to May now, I still have the first section to complete end of feb and into march, so it looks like I shall be mainly cheering on when I can make it.
The bike still has not been touched, something I urgently need to get on with I suppose. Also fill out those forms and send them off.
Have fun out on the track in Feb guys, wish I could be there. _________________ MUTANT NINJA HERO

Well I'm glad you are back its very quiet here.......
Do you know how to get hold of Martin by any chance? As you know
I have bought an RG400 shortly to be an RG570 and I wanted to try to find an easier way to start it than bumping it down the road. I hear that supermono's use some sort of electric roller thingy. Any idea where I can find one?
Cheers and trust you are well.

I shall shake marty into life, but, he used to have a generator that drove a wheel. This wheel was used to drive round the rear wheel and hey presto, you could fire the bike up.
I have seen other cunning methods of firing up up a bike, some people use a couple of rollers and use the drive wheel of a vehicle, such as van. This method appears to work but can lead to crowd entertainment when the driver of the vehicle runs the drive in the wrong direction, or, the dude on the bike crashes as he tries to get off the roller contraption.
Have you seen :- http://www.doczintl.com/docz_international_solo_starte.html ?
Or perhaps http://www.spareshack.com/c_cat_racebike_starters.htm may be more like it. _________________ MUTANT NINJA HERO

Martin is going to call me tonight - he has been informed of the requirement. No doubt he will be along to give advice. _________________ MUTANT NINJA HERO

Thought i had a set of rollers but remebered i gave them away last year
The starter trolleys i made cost about £600 to make using a briggs and Stratton 6.5 hp engine
Various go kart parts and a few days cutting and welding.
We were looking into using an old scooter bolting a frame to the back of it to stop the bike droping at the rear but were not sure if they would have enough grunt as the gear ratio would not be correct and you would need to fit a flat profiled tyre like a go kart tyre.
These ones
http://www.doczintl.com/docz_international_solo_starte.html
that have the twin starters are designed to start big singles they are very heavy and require good batterys.
These ones
http://www.tga.co.uk/spares/paddock/startingblock.htm
are not as powerfull as they only have one motor
Rolers are very good and cheap but there is a knack to using them and your van will require leveling on the other wheels
http://www.tga.co.uk/spares/paddock/rollers.htm
There is usually some adds in the MCN for rollers at £80 and starters like the ones I used to make at about a £1000
Another way is to use a 24v starter motor straight off the end of the crank
What are you going to do with this bike race or track day? believe me there is nothing worse than stalling a bike in the paddock and missing a race cos you could not get the fekker going again
If you are going to race it i would go for the trolley type that i made as they are very portable do not suffer from flat batterys etc _________________ Life's a bitch and i aint through with her yet

I have an RG400 stroker that I am going to race. It does start ok but the first one of the day can be a bit of an exercise in patience.
I am going to try to build one I think. If you come across any rubber do you have any supermono contacts still? Anyone who might be selling one maybe?
Thanks for the help.
We are all off to ledenon in 3 weeks so I will learn the starting knack there.
Cheers
