Having um'd and ah'd about what to do in 2007 a long chat with James Holland at JHS had me convinced about entering the British Motorcycle Racing Club (Bemsee) Thunderbike series. I had toyed with the idea previously and seen one or two suitable bikes for sale, but James persuaded me that it would work out cheaper to modify my existing bike. So a 700cc engine with lightened crank, gas flowed head and reprofiled cams is on its way! I may well start the season with the existing front end but am on the lookout for suitable upgrades (GSXR 750 seems to be the way to go).
A gang of us are of to France testing week commencing 19th Feb. Same track as last year, Ledenon. Fabulous circuit with a great combination of corners and elevation changes.
I'm starting to get my kit sorted. I need a few more spares for the French trip plus a new set of brake pads. The bike will still be in standard trim for the trip as the new engine won't be ready.
I'm actually getting fit and shedding weight fairly rapidly at the moment. The leathers were a bit 'snug' at the end of last season but that problem is now resolved
So roll on another year of madness and adrenaline fuelled fun!
Hope to see lots of you out there.
