Drivers will be allowed to use the hardshoulders of motorways when the they are busy! As a low cost alternative to increasing lane capacity, it is hoped to keep traffic moving and cut queues. New lay bys, to be called emergency refuges, will be built every 500 metres, allowing drivers who break down to pull over.
Gantries across the motorway will control access to the hard shoulder. Apparently sensors under the road will detect heavy traffic and alert a control centre. Screens on gantries will inform drivers that the hard shoulder is open for use.
A trial is to start on the M42, south east of Birmingham, next month. _________________ MUTANT NINJA HERO

If they enforced lane discipline on motorways then they wouldn't need to do crap like this. When did anyone ever get pulled over for being a middle lane hog? Also driving too close to the person in front causes many hold ups. _________________ Feel the Fear....AND DO IT ANYWAY!
